This map c.1864-65 shows Low Flatworth to the west of  Percy Main, Northumberland. There are no remains of Low Flatworth today (2006) but the village was located (now part of North Tyneside) on the A19 approach to the Tyne Tunnel. Thomas Wigham (1772-1850), son to George Wigham (1727-1792) and Dorothy (1726-1810) first appeared at Low Flatworth at the time of the 1841 census in England. Thomas was a Coal Miner and he no-doubt worked the many Pits operating on the north bank of the river Tyne during the first half of the 19th century— Flatworth Coillery itself opened before 1828.
