Children from this marriage were:

31 M    i. Thomas WIGHAM was born in Hartley, Northumberland and was christened in 1791 in St. Alban's Church, Earsdon.2

Noted events in his life were:

• 1851 Census: RG9/3706: Escomb, Durham. Thomas (70) is listed as Father living with Son William (31) - Iron Moulder, and Williams family - Ann (33) - wife, son Thomas (7), son William (2), daughter Elizabeth (4) at 82, Queens Street, Escomb, Durham. Thomas is listed here as born in Hartley, Nortrhumberland.

Thomas married Ann .

24. Thomas WIGHAM was born in Dec 1772 in Whitridge, Seaton Deleval, Northumberland, was christened 21st Dec 1772 in St. Alban's Church, Earsdon, Northumberland,10,11 died 3rd Jan 1850 in East Howdon, Chirton, Northumberland, at age 77,12,13 and was buried 6th Jan 1850 in Christ Church, Tynemouth, Northumberland.14 The cause of his death was tubercular peritonitis.13

General Notes: After 1798 the family lived in the parish of All Saints Newcastle then Longbenton from abt. 1804 until abt.1811 when they appear in Howdon Pans, Tynemouth in 1811, and at Low Flatworth, East Howdon at the time of the first census of 1841.

Research Notes: We know that Thomas was born 1772 in Northumberland (census of 1841). There are three possible births recorded in the IGI; the closest geographically is Thomas son of George and Dorothy Oliver born in the parish of Earsdon. The others are Thomas born in Allendale, but there is are corresponding reference in the census returns of 1841 and 1851 showing that this Thomas was born in Allendale not Earsdon. Secondly Thomas son of John born 1772 in Haydon Bridge but John had another son Thomas baptised in 1775 showing that the first Thomas had died earlier - verified only by IGI. There are no records of baptism for a Thomas WIGHAM in the year 1772 in the parish records of All Saints (Newcastle), St Bartholomew (Longbenton) or Christ Church (Tynemouth) - original records verified.

There is no other Thomas WIGHAM with the birth date of 1772 in the census returns from 1841 for Earsdon or surrounding Northumberland parishes, nor is there any GRO death records (after 1837) of a Thomas WIGHAM of a corresponding age. There are however, records of two marriages at St. Alban's church involving a Thomas WIGHAM from 1780-1820 - original recordes verified. Firstly a marriage to Eleanor Johnson in 1790 (both Banns and Marriage records present), and Secondly a Priscilla Swan - 1798. Although no clues to the family line are given in the marriage records (although Thomas was resident in the parish of Earsdon), the first might be explained by another Thomas b.1770 St Albans - supported by the fact no burial records exist of a Thomas WIGHAM between 1770 and 1790 incl. The second marriage record suggests that that Thomas was in-fact resident in the parish of Tynemouth, not Earsdon.
